The Health Benefits of Stand-Up Paddleboarding

Says Nate Burgoyne, editor of Stand Up Paddle Surfing Magazine: “Stand-Up Paddleboarding  is a superior core workout on both flat water and amongst the waves. It is an ideal sport for cross-training as it brings together legs, back, feet, arms, neck and stomach muscles in a graceful display of core strength and balance.”

What is Stand-Up Paddleboarding?
It is a very stable surfboard that one stands on. A long paddle is used to paddle yourself along in the water at your own pace and experience sea life and landscape that normally cannot be accessed.

What Do I Wear?
We recommend wearing a swim suit or board shorts with a top. You most likely will not end up in the water at all, so once you start paddling around in the sun, you may get warm.

Footwear:  Most people paddle barefoot and are fine. A pair of aquasox or water shoes can be used.

What Should I Bring?
Just your chosen paddling wear, applied sunscreen and excitement! We’ll have the correct size board and paddle waiting for you.

Do I Have to Know How to Surf?
Not at all!

Is There a Minimum or Maximum Age or Size to Paddle?
As long as you are in good health there is no reason why you cannot paddle!

What About Weather and Water Conditions?
A light mist in the hot weather is okay for paddling, but no paddling in heavy rain or thunderstorms! We will then reschedule. If in doubt, please call. Also, if we deem the water conditions for the day dangerous we reserve the right to reschedule (safety first).

I Am Just One Person; Can I Join a Group Lesson?
Yes, just sign up for a group lesson and you will be added into a group at the specified time. Remember, private lessons are also available.

Is Gratuity Included?
No, but it is not required. If you want to let your instructor know what a great job he or she did, it is a way to do that! Referrals are always welcome too!

Do You Do Parties, Events, Youth Groups, Etc?
Yes, we love to! It is a great way to get kids involved in a fun sport and outdoors! Also, it is a wonderful team building experience for work parties.

What is Your Refund and Rescheduling Policy?
Weather Delays: All lessons will take place at their scheduled time as long as the weather permits. Oceanside PaddleBoard reserves the right to postpone lessons at their discretion due to weather or conditions that they deem unsafe. If conditions or weather prevent the lesson from taking place, the lesson will be rescheduled for future convenient time or credit will be issued for a future lesson.

Cancellations: We are very flexible with cancellations but appreciate if guests call us up to 48 hours in advance for cancellations.

Rescheduling: We are also flexible on rescheduling but due to demand may not have a slot open within 48 hours of a cancellation
